A Genius I/O serial bus can accommodate a maximum of 31 I/O devices on the bus, including Genius I/O blocks, interface modules, and hand-held monitors. It also supports a wide range of Genius I/O blocks, and it can be used for configured communication between a Series 6 PLC and the Genius I/O devices connected on the bus. The IC660CBB902 Bus Controller belongs to the Phase B enhanced bus controller family. It is suitable for busses which use any baud rates aside from the 153.6 Kilobaud standard rate and with a maximum connection distance less than 2000 feet. The IC660CBB902 Bus Controller is also compatible with busses that have Resistive Temperature Detector (RTDs) blocks or Genius I/O blocks with more than 64 I/O bits, Series 6 PLC systems with CPU to CPU communication, and systems with bus redundancy.
The GE Fanuc IC660CBB902 Bus Controller comes with built-in diagnostics capabilities that automatically send out diagnostic reports from Genius I/O blocks on the bus to the CPU. The IC660CBB902 Bus Controller can be installed in any I/O slot of the Series 6 CPU, in a regular or high-capacity I/O rack, or in a remote I/O rack (although this is not recommended). The IC660CBB902 Bus Controller has 2 LED status indicators (the "BOARD OK" LED and the "COMM OK" LED) and a handheld monitor connector for access to all the devices that are installed on the bus. The IC660CBB902 Bus Controller also has 4 upper terminals for serial bus connections and low connector jumpers (JP1, JP2, and JP3) for the terminations of the Genius I/O bus.
