IC695CHS012

The IC695CHS012 is a PACSystem RX3i universal backplane. This Backplane features 12 slots that supports high-speed Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) and serial bus connection. Backplanes are necessary components as it provides housing to the RX3i modules and connectivity. It also hosts the communication bus where internal communication between modules takes place.

The IC695CHS012 has a power consumption of 600 mA @ 3.3 VDC and 240 mA @ 5 VDC. It has physical dimensions of 18.01 x 5.57 x 5.80 (457.5 x 141.5 x 147.32) and supports horizontal mounting. It mut be mounted inside an enclosure that offers IP20 / NEMA/UL Type 1 Protection rating. For natural cooling and promote adequate air circulation, the backplane must have 102 mm or 4 inches clearance on all sides of the hardware. For ATEX Zone 2 Hazardous area requirements, the IC695CHS012 must be installed inside an IP54 or greater enclosure with mechanical strength to withstand 3.5 Joules of impact energy.

The IC695CHS012 supports hot-swapping of module or removable and insertion under power. This provides a distinct advantage as it effectively reduces downtime and permits maintenance activities such as module replacement and integrity verification to be carried out without affecting the present operating mode of the attached controller and modules. Additionally, this backplane supports installation of optional baseplate such as controller base and ethernet expansion base.

The IC695CHS012 backplane is provided with a TB1 terminal block that allows termination of optional external 24VDC power source for use by some IC693 and IC694 modules . Recommended wires for use is AWG 14-22 individual wires.

The IC695CHS012 backplane has an internal current rating of 240 milliamps at 5 Volts DC and a current rating of 600 milliamps at 3.3 Volts DC. The backplane must be positioned horizontally and it requires at least 102 millimeters (4 inches) of space on all sides in order to perform properly and to be air-cooled. The supported input terminals used with IC695CHS012 universal backplane use individual wires in sizes from 14 to 22 AWG. The terminals in slots 7 and 8 are typically used for isolated external power sources. Every slot in the IC695CHS012 backplane is configured to accept different components, for example, DC power supplies are connected to a single slot, but AC power supplies are intended for 2 slots.
