The IC693BEM330 is a Remote I/O scanner module that supports Factory Instrumentation Protocol (FIP). This module belongs to the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) series formerly manufactured by GE Fanuc, now under Emerson Automation. It is mainly used to implement distributed I/O architecture, enabling users to communicate with I/O modules away from the host controller. Supporting FIP I/O protocol, this module supports a data transmission rate of 1 MHz. It comes with Two (2) FIP channels provided by the 9-pin D-shell female connectors. It also has a SYNCHRO connector which is intended for termination of the FIP synchronization cable. It requires the use of a mating Molex connector with catalog number #39-01-4031. This module comes with LED status indicators such as CD1 and CD2 that depict the status of Carrier Detection on each channel. TEN1 and TEN2 are transmission LEDs that indicate active data exchange over the communication ports. The IC693BEM330 compatibility is not limited to Series 90-30 PLCs as it also supports the Series 90-70 platform, Field Control Stations via FIP Bus Interface Units (BIU), Remote I/O drops, and Generic Devices such as general-purpose and 3rd party devices that support FIP communication protocol. The IC693BEM330 can be used for controlling the FIP I/O nest, scan and maintaining timing of discrete I/O, map I/O data to FIP application variables, detection of system faults and generation of reports, maintaining network configuration after power loss, providing blinking and pulsed outputs, input filtering and chatter detection. This module is configured using the compatible DOS or Windows-based programming software or via the handheld programmer.
The GE Fanuc IC693BEM330 Remote I/O Scanner Module from the GE Series 90-30 PLC series system. This module provides the means for connecting of a wide variety of GE Fanuc intelligent platform modules. This scanner module can only be inserted in slot 1 of any Series 90-30 PLC, and its function is to send and receive data from other modules that are connected to a Factory Instrumentation Protocol (FIP) communications network. Up to 19 I/O modules can be connected to the GE Fanuc IC693BEM330 Remote I/O Scanner Module, using 2 baseplates with 10 slots each that can be interconnected by using an extension cable with a length of up to 50 feet (15.2 meters). Two 9-pin male D-Type connectors are placed in front of the GE Fanuc IC693BEM330 Remote I/O Scanner Module, where 4 status LEDs marked as CD1, TEN1, CD2, and TEN2 can also be found. All the modules connected to the scanner use the FIP network to transmit and receive data, and to communicate with the central processing unit of the system, generally a GE Fanuc Series 90-30 PLC or Programmable Logic Controller. The GE Fanuc IC693BEM330 Remote I/O Scanner Module is user-configurable through a proprietary hand-held configuration tool supplied by GE Fanuc (sold separately). Any maintenance, repair, or troubleshooting on the system should be performed by qualified electrical technicians, according to the instructions provided by the manufacturer’s manual. Environmental protection should be provided by the end users because extreme temperatures may cause unstable behavior or the malfunctioning of the modules.
