The IC693CBL301 is a Bus Expansion cable that is part of the Series 90-30 product series formerly by GE Fanuc Automation, currently under Emerson Automation. This cable is primarily used to implement I/O expansion by means of interconnecting expansion or remote baseplate to the expansion port of the CPU baseplate using the IC693CBL301 cable. This cable is also referred to as a Wye cable, having One (1) 25-pin connector on one end and One (1) male and One (1) female 25-pin connector on the other end. The IC693CBL301 has a cable length of 6 feet or 2 meters with continuous shielding. When connecting this cable, the 25-pin connector attaches to the CPU expansion port located on the right-most side. The male connector of the cable is attached to the 25-pin female connector of the expansion or remote baseplate located on the left-most part. The exposed 25-pin connector can be used to connect to another I/O bus expansion for further interconnection or connected to a terminator plug to close the I/O bus. Up to Seven (7) total instances of the cable are used with a single Series 90-30 system. The maximum, aggregate cable length must not exceed 50 feet or 15 meters, between the CPU baseplate and the last expansion baseplate or 700 feet or 213 meters from the CPU to the last remote baseplate. An unterminated expansion bus or I/O bus length exceeding the recommended measurement will result in erratic communication and I/O data exchange. With CPU 350 - 364, up to 7 expansion cable is supported while with CPU 331-314, up to 4 expansion cables is allowed.

The IC693CBL301 cable is an I/O Bus expansion cable that has been designed and manufactured by GE Fanuc and included in GE Series 90-30. This specific cable provides connections between different racks and CPUs, providing even interconnection between different expansion ports. This specific model is also used as a Wye cable type that is used to daisy-chain different base plates or racks together. The structure of this cable provides continuous shield features. The GE Fanuc IC693CBL301 I/O Bus expansion cable can extend the I/O bus to the expansion or remote racks in a system when additional I/O slots are required or when different baseplates, for design or security reasons, need to be located some distance away from the main CPU. This cable, among others, is used to build a custom cable that can help achieve the desired length without losing effectiveness. The GE Fanuc IC693CBL301 I/O Bus expansion cable comes with connectors on both ends. These connectors consist of a male 25-pin connector and 2 male/female 25-pin connectors on the other end. Both connectors are D-type connectors. To connect more than one cable, the users need to start by connecting the single male connector on the right side of the CPU baseplate. Then to connect a second baseplate, the male connector on the dual connector end needs to be connected to the female pin connector on the first expansion cable. The unused female connector on the dual-end can be connected to the single male connector of a second I/O Bus expansion cable or an I/O bus Terminator plug. The GE Fanuc IC693CBL301 I/O Bus expansion cable has a length of 2 meters.
