The GE Fanuc IC693CBL312 I/O Base Expansion Cable is a prewired I/O bus expansion cable assembly for the Series 90-30 I/O control system. This cable connects CPU baseplate with I/O expansion or remote baseplates in a daisy-chain configuration. The IC693CBL312 I/O Base Expansion Cable is a 0.15-meter (0.5-foot) long Wye cable with a 25-pin D-type connector one end of the cable and a dual-headed (one male, one female) 25-pin D-type connector on the other end. This cable belongs to the I/O expansion cable series, which includes cables that come in varying lengths and with continuous wire shielding. The IC693CBL312 Expansion Cable can be replaced with either the 3-foot IC693CBL300 cable, the 6-foot IC693CBL301 cable, the 25-foot IC693CBL313 cable, or the 50-foot long IC693CBL302 cable.

For proper daisy-chain wiring, the single end of the IC693CBL312 I/O Base Expansion Cable which has a 25-pin D-type male connector is connected to the 25-pin D-type female connector on the CPU baseplate. The 25-pin male connector on the dual-connector end is connected to a 25-pin female connector of the first expansion baseplate in the system. The other 25-pin female connector on the dual-end end of the cable is connected to a male 25-pin connector of the second I/O bus expansion cable to continue the I/O bus expansion chain. After achieving the desired I/O expansion length, the female 25-pin connector on the last I/O bus expansion cable is terminated by using a terminator plug. Note that the maximum number of cables that can be connected to an I/O expansion system is 7, and the maximum acceptable distance between the CPU baseplate and the last remote baseplate is 213 meters (700 feet).
