Both are powered-up and actively synchronizing the user logic. Once the primary controller fails, the secondary controller takes-over automatically without the need of powering-up the unit thus, the word Hot-standby controller. With the pair of controller in place, users can experience bumpless transfer of control form one CPU to another without a noticeable interruption in the process.

This processor primarily features a built-in 1 Mbyte Fast Memory and I/O memory that can accommodate 12 K discrete inputs and 12 K discrete outputs of any combination and up to 8K analog I/O devices. It is installed with a 96 MHz, 80486DX4 microprocessor with Boolean execution speed of 0.4 microseconds. It comes with One (1) RS232 Serial interface; Two (2) RS485 interface. All protocols supported by the serial interface are SNP slave only. This controller has a battery-backed RAM with compatible replacement of IC697ACC701 Lithium battery which has a shelf life of 5 years at 20 C (68 F) and memory retention of 6 months without applied power.
