The IC697CMM742 is an Ethernet communication interface module that is made in compatibility with the Series 90-70 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) series of Emerson Automation, formerly by GE Fanuc. This module enabled Ethernet connectivity, allowing the host processor to perform data exchange over Ethernet network. This module come with a variety of communication interfaces such as One (1) Station Mgr (RS-232) Serial Port; One (1) Software Load (RS-485) Serial Port; One (1) AUI Network Port; One (1) 10BaseT Network Port and One (1) 10Base2 network Port. It also comes with a restart that is used to re-initialize module communication. The IC697CMM742 provides connectivity via support to a variety of communication protocols such as Data exchange using configuration-based and logic-based Ethernet Global Data (EGD) and TCP/IP communication services using SRTP. This module also supports downloading and uploading of user program, troubleshooting of the user program and hardware. This module may also be used to communicate with Human Machine Interface (HMI) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) networks. The IC697CMM742 is provided with LED status indicators that can be used to locally monitor and troubleshoot the module in case of errors. These LED indicators include Module OK, LAN online, Serial Active and Status OK. This communication module has backplane current draw amounting to 2.0 A @ 5 VDC) and 0.5 Amps @ 12 VDC when powering an external AUI transceiver. Additionally, the module’s operating temperature is 0 C to +55C (32F to 131F). This module is also provided with a replaceable 1.0 A fuse used for module protection in the AUI transceiver port.

The GE Fanuc IC697CMM742 interface is an Ethernet interface device that is made for the GE Series 90-70 PLC systems. This Ethernet interface comes with 3 network ports that it can use to connect its host PLC an Ethernet LAN. These 3 ports are the AUI network port, the 10BaseT network port, and the 10Base2 network port. The AUI network port is a standard network port with 15 pins and it can connect to different devices with transceivers. The interface can only use 1 of its 3 network ports at a time and it will automatically select which network port to use at a certain time. The IC697CMM742 Ethernet interface has 4 LEDs for interface status updates which include the MODULE OK, LED, the LAN ONLINE, LED, the SERIAL ACTIVE, LED, and the STATUS LED.
