The IC697CPX772 is a Central Processing Unit (CPU) module from Emerson Automation’s Series 90-70 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) series. This module comes with multiple communication interfaces specifically, One (1) RJ11 Serial communication interface and Two (2) 9-pin D shell RS485 communication ports. This processor supports SNP Slave, Break-Free SNP (Slave), SNPX and RTU serial protocols. This processor has built-in 512 KB of Random Access Memory (RAM) and 256 KB non-volatile flash memory. This processor supports floating point calculations which is data format being used in real-world computations and transactions as floating point math supports decimal values. It can accommodate up to 2K discrete input and discrete outputs of any combination and 8K Words of analog Input and output data. This processor is equipped with an 80486DX4 microprocessor with clock speed of 96 MHz. For Bollean execution, it has an execution speed of 0.4 microseconds per Boolean instruction. It also comes with a battery-backed Real-Time Clock (RTC) with accuracy of +/- 3.5 seconds per day, maximum and elapsed time clock accuracy of +/- 0.1%, maximum. The module’s Lithium battery has catalog number of IC697ACC701 with shelf life of 5 years when operating at temperature of 20 Degree with memory retention period of 6 months. The IC697CPX772 has current draw of 3.1 A and operating temperature of 0-60 Degree Celsius. The IC697CPX772 has a Three (3) position operation mode switch for locally changing the operating mode of the controller. It also has Seven (7) status LEDs such as OK, RUN, EN, P1, P2 and P3. Additionally, the module contains 256 KB of non-volatile flash memory. The IC697CPX772 module takes up one slot in the PLC rack. The microprocessor used by the module is an 80486DX4 microprocessor clocked at 96 megahertz. Three integrated serial ports are provided on the module. The 3 ports are independent and they can be accessed from connectors on the front of the module. The serial ports can be used to interface with serial devices and serial programming terminals. Port 1 supports the RS-232 serial communication protocol and it has a 6-pin RJ-11 connector. Port 2 supports the RS-485 serial communication protocol and it has a 15-pin female D-connector. Port 3 on the IC697CPX772 CPU module also supports the RS-485 protocol. The difference is that Port 2 is optocoupler isolated while Port 3 is not isolated. The IC697CPX772 module has a current consumption rating of 3.1 Amps. The input voltage required by the module is 5 Volts DC. The working temperature range of the module is from 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. The following 3 different types of rack fan assemblies can be used with the IC697CPX772 module: 120 Volts AC-powered assembly, the 240 Volts AC-powered assembly, and the 24 Volts DC-powered assembly. The IC697CPX772 module supports floating point math, 2000 inputs/outputs, and 8000 analog I/O. The module is programmed by software running on DOS or Windows-based systems. The programming computer can connect to the CPU module over serial connections or over Ethernet connections.
