The GE Fanuc Series 90-70 module with catalog number IC697CPX928 is a Central Processing Unit (CPU) that is used mainly to execute user program downloaded to the CPU’s memory. This CPU module is a single slot chassis that features an 80486DX4 microprocessor with speed of 96 MHz and 0.4 µs per Boolean function execution. This module is equipped with an on-board memory of 6MB battery-backed up RAM and 256KB non-volatile user flash memory where CPU firmware is also stored.

The IC697CPX928 is capable of handling a maximum of 12K inputs and outputs of any combination, and up to 8K analog Input and Output. It supports 32-bit floating point data.

The IC697CPX928 is configured using the programming software. It has no jumper terminals or DIP switches for hardware parameter setting. Without forced air-cooling, the range of operating temperatures of the IC697CPX928 CPU module is reduced to between 32 and 122 degrees Fahrenheit. Depending on the types of power supply that are available, 120 Volts AC, 240 Volts AC, or 24 Volts DC-powered rack fan assemblies can be installed on the IC697CPX928 module. The CPU module comes with 3 serial ports, of which 2 ports support RS-485 communication and 1 port supports RS-232 communication. These serial ports can be used to interface with programming devices for CPU configuration. Additionally, optional Ethernet modules can also be installed in the PLC to enable the configuration of the IC697CPX928 module over Ethernet networks.
