The IC697MEM715 memory module from GE Fanuc is available in 64 KB, 128 KB, 256 KB, and 512 KB capacities. The GE CMOS expansion memory module like this one are used for data expansion and for expanding the logic memory in GE 771/772 CPUs in PLCs. The modules are also used in the programmable co-processor modules in PLCs. The IC697MEM715 module is configurable for data as well as for program storage and it is configured as a daughterboard when it is placed in the same slot as the module in which it operates. The memory of the base and the daughterboard are supplemental and in the event of a power loss, the battery on the base housing will retain the memory. The logic program memory repeatedly checks for errors through the checksum routine. When the power is cycled and also during the soft reset or hard resets, the PMC error will check the storage memory automatically.



 



The IC697MEM715 memory module is built to function without requiring an additional slot for configuration. Moreover, it is adjustable for the storage of programs as well as for the storage of data. When it comes to programming on the Windows operating system, the IC697MEM715 memory module uses the MS-DOS software as the configuration software. It comes with a lithium battery that backs up the calendar clock. Therefore, in case of a power failure, the lithium battery still retains user memory. The battery shelf life is up to 10 years. The IC697MEM715 memory module operates well at an average ambient temperature of 20 degrees Celsius or 68 degrees Fahrenheit. It has a memory retention capacity of 6 months without applied power.
