The Mitsubishi FX-48MR-ES unit operates as a mixed digital I/O module, integrating both input and output functionalities in one package. This module is designed to accept a 24V DC input voltage specifically for the digital input channels. The input sensitivity current is sensitive to changes, requiring a minimum of 4.0 mA to toggle from OFF to ON and a maximum of 1.5 mA to transition back from ON to OFF.

As for its output capabilities, the FX-48MR-ES utilizes relay outputs with Normally Open (NO) contacts. Each point can support an output capacity of 2A, with a combined output rating of 8A for every group of four points. The output voltage for this unit can reach up to 250V AC or 30V DC, making it suitable for various applications.

Regarding the overall I/O capacity, it provides 48 total channels, with an expandable option up to 256 I/O when connected with additional expansion modules. The response time for this module is approximately 10 ms, which can be tweaked using the REFF instruction for specific timing requirements. The module dimensions are 230 × 140 × 95 mm (9.1 × 5.5 × 3.7 inches), with a light weight of 2 kg (4.4 lbs).

Power supply requirements range from 100–240V AC, and the power consumption is rated at 50 VA. For mounting, it is compatible with a 35 mm DIN rail or can use its integral mounting holes that measure 4 × 4.0 mm. The service supply voltage for its operation is a stable 24V DC, accommodating demands of up to 400 mA in version 1.2, or 460 mA for version 2.0 and above. Furthermore, it supports all FX handheld programmers provided by Mitsubishi and is compatible with various MEDOC programming versions.
