Mitsubishi's FX3U-CAN serves as a communication block designed for factory automation systems. This module employs a shielded twisted pair cable configuration, which consists of 2 pairs for reliable data transmission. It facilitates communication over a CAN Bus network, utilizing RS-485 with CSMA/CR for effective message handling.

The FX3U-CAN is compatible with both CANopen and CAN Layer 2 protocols, making it versatile for various applications. Each node on the CANopen network can be assigned a unique ID, selectable from 1 to 127, whereas the system can accommodate up to 127 nodes in total.

Communication can occur in various methods, including acyclic, cyclic, or event-driven, allowing flexibility according to the needs of the application. The module consumes up to 110 mA of current, powered by a 24V DC internal supply sourced from the main unit. Additionally, it provides 8 I/O points that can serve as either input or output for the PLC, thereby enhancing its utility in industrial settings.
