The Omron CS1W-SCU21-V1 module is a serial communications unit that is categorized as a CPU Bus units in the Omron CS series. The CS1W-SCU21-V1 serial communications unit supports various protocols such as the Host Link, protocol macro, NT Link, loopback test, Serial Gateway, no-protocol, and 1:1 Host Link modes (Unit Versions 1.2 and later). Additionally, Unit Version 1.3 or later includes a Modbus-RTU slave mode. This unit supports data exchange with the host system’s CPU unit, and it operates with 25 allocated words in the CPU Bus unit CIO area. Data transfers from the CPU unit set by the system involve allocating each serial port 10 words in the CPU Bus unit DM area, totaling 20 words. The supported CPU units include high-speed CS1H-CPU67H, CPU66H, CPU65H, CPU64H, and CPU63H CPU units, and standard CS1G-CPU45H, CPU44H, CPU43H, and CPU42H CPU units. The CS1W-SCU21-V1 unit has a simple backup function for backing up protocol macro data from the CS1W-SCU21-V1 unit to the CPU unit’s memory card, and this function also supports data restoration or comparison. The CS1W-SCU21-V1 serial communications unit is compatible with various backplanes, including CPU backplanes (CS1WBC103/BC083/BC053/BC033/BC023) and CS expansion backplanes (CS1W-BI103/BI083/BI053/BI033). The CS1W-SCU21-V1 serial communications unit has a current consumption rating of 290 mA on its own, plus an additional current consumption rating of 150 mA for each connected Link Adapter.
