Designed to handle transient currents, the ATV18U18N4 has a maximum transient current capacity that reaches 150% of the nominal current rating over a short duration of 60 seconds. For braking capabilities, it allows a braking torque of 30% in standard mode, which can rise to as much as 150% when paired with a dynamic braking resistor. The frequency resolution is well-defined, at 0.1 Hz for both the display and the analog inputs up to 100 Hz, facilitating precise control.

Additionally, the drive's switching frequency can be adjusted anywhere from 2.2 to 12 kHz, supporting different operational needs. Protection features include galvanic isolation, as well as comprehensive safeguards against common electrical issues such as short circuits, thermal overloads, undervoltage, overvoltage, and over-braking, thereby extending the life of the drive and the attached motor. It also integrates thermal protection through I²t calculations to further shield the motor.

For environmental compatibility, the unit operates smoothly within a temperature range of 0°C to 45°C and can be stored in temperatures from -20°C to 60°C. Its physical dimensions are approximately 4.41 inches wide, 7.17 inches high, and 4.76 inches deep (112 mm x 182 mm x 121 mm), allowing for compact installation in various settings.
