The BMEP584040 processor module from Schneider Electric’s I/O Modules series is built for high-performance automation applications. It holds capacity for 4096 digital I/O points and 1024 analog I/O points, allowing it to process significant I/O quantities directly. This module accommodates a system setup of up to 8 configurable racks, thus enabling extensive scalability in complex processes.

In addition, the module features 144 dedicated channels specifically for tasks such as motion control, HART communication, SSI encoder interfacing, and serial communication, enhancing its adaptability in various applications. For communication, it allows the inclusion of 16 AS-Interface modules alongside 4 Ethernet communication modules, catering to diverse connectivity needs.

Memory-wise, the processor boasts a configuration of 4 GB of expandable flash storage directly coupled with 16 MB of program RAM and 2 MB of data RAM, allowing ample space for complex applications and data handling. The task execution structure includes two auxiliary tasks, a cyclic master task, a fast periodic task, and the capacity to handle up to 128 different events, supporting efficient processing and operations.

Its network setup includes two Ethernet TCP/IP ports (for device and service) as well as one USB mini-B port for direct connectivity. Furthermore, the BMEP584040 supports remote I/O expansions for 16 remote stations, each capable of accommodating two racks. It can interface with a maximum of 64 distributed field devices, making it effective for distributed automation setups.

The module is designed with reliability in mind, featuring a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 775,000 hours and a power consumption of 295 mA at 24 V DC, all encapsulated within an ambient temperature range from 0°C to 60°C. Addressing cybersecurity, it includes advanced features such as Achilles certification, an embedded firewall, IPSec, and secure HTTPS communication, making it resilient against digital threats.
