The Yaskawa GPD-315-Dynamic-Braking-Option is engineered to provide efficient dynamic braking for compatible drive models within the GPD series, specifically the GPD‑315/V7 range, from 20P1 to 25P5. This module supports an input voltage of 230 or 460 VAC, operating on a robust 3-phase system. Designed for versatility, the brake resistor duty cycle is rated at 3% when mounted directly on the drive's heat sink and extends to 10% for installations using an external resistor.

Activation occurs via DC bus overvoltage sensing, contributing to enhanced control during dynamic braking scenarios. Protection is ensured with an indoor NEMA 1 / IP20 rating, suitable for dry environments.

The module can be mounted either on the drive's heat sink or with an external bracket, offering flexible installation options. It operates effectively across a temperature range of −10 to 50 °C. For storage, the temperature range widens to −20 to 60 °C, making it adaptable for various conditions. Relative humidity levels are manageable up to 95% without condensation. With a weight of approximately 0.45 kg (or 1 lb), the module is lightweight. Proper mounting clearance is specified with 30 mm on the sides and 150 mm on the top and bottom for external resistor setups.
