The Yaskawa GPD-515-G5-Braking-Connections module serves as a dynamic braking solution for varying applications. Designed with operational efficiency in mind, it features a combination of a transistor unit and a remote resistor. For optimal cable installation, the maximum distance between units should not exceed 10 meters. The module requires specific clearances, including 30 mm on the sides and 100 mm for the top and bottom of the transistor, while the resistor necessitates 50 mm of clearance on the sides and 200 mm on top to maintain efficient operation.
It is crucial that the voltage rating matches the DC bus voltage for proper functionality. Meanwhile, the L1-L3 terminals remain unaffected by the main AC input, allowing for seamless connections. Connection terminals are designated as B, P, Po, and N, allowing users to follow the specific wiring drawing provided. Additionally, the terminal screws feature sizes of M4 for signal connections and M5 for power connections.
The module also stipulates cable requirements: use 12–10 AWG for power cabling and 18–14 AWG for signal conductors. Grounding enclosures should maintain a resistance of 100 Ω or less to the chassis for safety. To mitigate electrical noise, it is recommended to shield and group noisy power leads separately. Safety precautions include powering off the system and discharging the DC bus before any wiring work is conducted. Lastly, after installation, a megger insulation test at 900 volts must be performed to verify installation integrity.
