The Allen-Bradley 1305-BA03A is an Adjustable Frequency AC drive. In industrial terminology, this product may also be referred to as Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Variable Speed Drive (VSD), Frequency Inverter and simply an inverter. These terminologies refer to an an industrial equipment that is coupled to an AC motor to control the Rotation Speed, Torque as well as implement protective start-up and shutdown and lower down power consumption.

The 1305-BA03A is capable of implementing basic to advanced motor control. Basic motor control includes START / STOP; FORWARD / REVERSE / JOG; REMOTE / MANUAL operation. For advanced motor control, this drive is capable of Standard Boost V/Hz, Standard Volts/Hz and Custom Volts/Hz control methods which are ideal control method for speed control. For motor protective start-up and shutdown, related parameters are Accel/Decel Time, Ramp to Stop and S-Curve Acceleration.

This drive operates when supplied with an input supply voltage of 380-460V, 3-phase and input current of 2.2 Amperes. It delivers an output voltage of 0-460VAC, 3-Phase, output current of 2.3 Amperes, output frequency of 0-400 Hz and applicable motor power output of 0.75 kW / 1HP.

This drive has Eight (8) discrete input channels with Five (5) channels fixed for START / STOP / DRIVE ENABLE /REVERSE signals and Three (3) fully programmable inputs; Two (2) programmable outputs; Two (2) analog inputs and One (1) analog output channel. It also has a separate external potentiometer speed reference. Appropriate potentiometer for use with this drive is a 10 k Ω Potentiometer, 2 Watts.

The 1305-BA03A operates in a voltage range of 340 to 500 Volts, with an apparent input power of 1.7 kilovolts AC. The power dissipation is 34 Watts, and the working efficiency is 97.5%.
