The Allen-Bradley 1336-CAP-SP17A BUS Capacitor Bank is a capacitor bank kit for the Allen-Bradley 1336 Plus II Adjustable Frequency AC Drive with a 460V AC drive voltage rating, which is installed on the leftmost part of the drive’s main chassis. The 1336-CAP-SP17A BUS capacitor bank is an assembly of capacitors connected in series, which stores energy and corrects a lag in the drive’s power factor or phase shift in the incoming alternating current (AC) power supply. The 1336-CAP-SP17A has a (+) and (-) BUS Bar terminal, which connects to a converter fuse at the (+) BUS Bar via 4 fastening bolts, and it is connected to the Power Module BUS bar, and the Power Module Snubber Resistor.
The 1336-CAP-SP17A BUS Capacitor can be accessed from the drive by following the following steps: (1) Remove power from the drive, (2) Remove the protective covering of the BUS Terminal, (3) Remove all wires from the BUS capacitor, and the BUS bar from the BUS capacitor, (4) Remove the fastening screw holding the bracket to the top of the BUS capacitor, and remove the capacitor from the main chassis. The 1336-CAP-SP17A is installed easily on the main chassis via the following steps (1) Fasten the capacitors to the Main Chassis using the brackets and screws (2) Attach all bus bars and wires to the capacitor, (3) Fasten the BUS bar to the capacitor, with a fastening torque of 3.4 to 4.0N-m (30 to 35lb-in), (4) Attach wires to the BUS capacitor with a torque of 3.4 to 4.0N-m (30–35lb-in), (5) Attach the protective shield to protect the BUS capacitor.
