The 1336-CAP-SP2A is a two terminal electrical component capacitor manufactured by Allen-Bradley to store energy and give power to Allen-Bradley 1336 drive series gadgets. It suitably functions in Allen-Bradley 1336 drives that run on 15 to 20 Horsepower; it stores and runs on 460 Volts AC. It is applicable in a separate thermal overload relay connection to the control circuit. When the 1336-CAP-SP2A discharges, its essential impedance is zero. For switching it to the adequate impedance, it should connect in series with the capacitor bank to limit the inrush current. Adding inductance in the capacitor’s conductors is one way of limiting the surge current. It can be achieved by making coils in the power connections to the capacitor.
The 1336-CAP-SP2A electrical component capacitor comes with a 250 Volts 6-inch diameter coil, and using six loops with it is recommendable. The 1336-CAP-SP2A can also use a 480 Volts to 600 Volts 6-inch diameter coil and it is preferable for this diameter coil to have eight loops available. Take precautions while mounting the coils to prevent the loops from being stacked directly on top of one another because this may cause a canceling effect. It is also recommended to fit the coils on insulated supports and away from the metal parts to prevent them from acting like induction heaters. Place the capacitor in front of the contractor when using the isolation contactor.
