The Allen-Bradley 160-AA18NPS1 is a Variable Speed Drive from the 160 SSC series. This drive operates on a power supply of a 3-phase rated voltage of 200 to 240 Volts (21.1A input current). The user is advised to use a 30 A fuse on the input side of the device, as this device is engineered to generate an 18 A current output and a 3.7 kW or 5HP power rating output. Its enclosure type is NEMA 1 Open IP20 and the 160-AA18NPS1 coded product is intended to work with a preset speed. The output frequency is programmable from 0 to 240 Hertz and the user controls the output frequency of the drive via a TB3 control terminal block. For this purpose, dry contacts or open collector inputs to SW1, SW2, and SW3 are available. Control algorithms implemented on this drive are PWM, V to Hertz ratio, DC boost, and current limiting. Its protecting features include a temperature-sensing embedded trip, to protect the module if the heatsink temperature goes beyond 95 degrees Celsius; it also has over/under voltage protection, overcurrent overload protection that is programmed as 150% for 60 seconds or 200% for 30 seconds, faultless ride through protection of 100 milliseconds, ground short protection, and output short circuit protection. This is a fan cooled model. The 160-AA18NPS1 drive has dimensions of 7.58 x 3.62 x 7.61 inches (193 x 92 x 193 millimeters) and weighs around 5.23 pounds (2.37 kilograms). For its power rating, this drive’s 92-millimeter overall width is impressive. The working temperature range of the drive is 0 to 50 degrees Celsius.
