The 160 SSC Variable Speed Drives from Allen-Bradley are specially used for 3-phase induction AC motors. These drives are microprocessor-controlled and completely programmable for a wide range of applications. The drives come with a wide range of features that ensure excellent performance, some of which include a hinged finger guard that enhances easy access to the line and load power terminals. All the 160 drives have a standard fault/ready indicating panel, and any drive fixed with this functionality is fully functional. All the control functions of the 160 SSC Variable Speed Drives can be controlled from the control terminal block known as TB3. Nevertheless, this panel cannot help in changing the factory default settings of the drive. The drives come with a fault indicator LED, which lights up if there is any fault. There is also the “Ready” indicator LED that lights up whenever the drives are ready to run and the DC bus is charged.
Additionally, the 160 SSC Variable Speed Drives have DC Bus test points to provide effortless access for test analyses for measuring the DC Bus voltage. There is also a cooling fan to help provide sufficient airflow across the heatsink fins to avoid overheating. The drives also feature a DIN latch to offer a seamless way of mounting the drive on a standard 35-millimeter DIN rail, though this mounting method is not available for the 4 kilowatts or 1.5 kilowatts single-phase rated units. The 160 SSC Variable Speed Drives come with additional optional features, such as the dynamic brake module option that allows for the connection of the dynamic brake resistors, except for on the drives that have 0.37 or 0.55 kilowatts ratings. Another optional feature is the program keypad module which can also be purchased separately and installed in the field.
