The 160-BA03NPS1P1 is a Smart Speed Controller (SSC) manufactured by Allen-Bradley. This product may also be called a Microdrive as it is able to control motors that has 0.5 to 5.0 Horsepower. This product is microprocessor based and fully programmable through the embedded programming module.

This Speed controller feature a front panel with a Ready / Fault Indicating panel which is standard for bulleting 160 Smart Speed Controllers. It also has LED indicators to indicates the drive’s operational status specifically, Ready and Faulted status. TB1 is located on top of the device that is intended for Line Connection. TB2 is located at the bottom intended for load connection or motor wiring. It also has TB3 terminal for control wiring which is used to interface the drive from external signals to allow the drive to be controlled remotely. For TB1 and TB2 terminals, recommended wire sizes are 4 – 0.75 (12 – 18) and screw size of M4.

Standard accessories for the drive include a Program Keypad Module or a Human Interface Module (HIM) to configure the drive’s parameters. As this drive is a Preset Speed Model, the drive produces a pre-defined speed setting depending on the activated switch. The Preset Speed input is located at Terminal TB3, particularly TB3-1, TB3-2, TB3-3 and TB3-4. TB-3-3 is the common terminal. This drive also has a fixed inputs assigned at TB3-5 as Reverse Input signal, TB3-6 as Start Input, Programmable Input at TB3-8 and common terminal at TB3-7. Programmable output are located at terminals TB3-9, TB3-10 and Tb3-11 where TB3-10 is the common terminal as the drive’s output are Form C outputs.

It is important that this controller is located somewhere whose atmosphere does not contain corrosive vapors. The vertical mounting of this controller on a flat surface is done with mounting screws (with a 4.5 millimeters maximum diameter) or a DIN rail mount that measure 35 millimeters. A preset speed control is included with this terminal and the users can choose from 8 factory default preset frequencies or set their own. Present on the 160-BA03NPS1P1 is a program keypad module that features programming and control keys, specifically 5 programming keys for the parameters of the 160-BA03NPS1P1 controller and 3 keys for the enter function and the up and down directions, LED indicators for the controller’s motor rotation direction (a total of 2 indicators) and the current program mode (1 indicator), and a 6-digit LED display that has seven segments present.
