The Smart Speed Controller with part number 160-BA03NSF1 is a variable speed controller that is manufactured by Allen-Bradley used for controlling the speed of an AC induction motor. This controller is capable of remote and local operation including integration to computer-based control systems.

This drive has a front panel with a status indicator to show Ready and Fault drive feedback however, the 160-BA03NSF1 may be optionally installed with programming module or remote handheld device to configure and operate locally the drive. It also has integral I/O terminal labeled as TB3 terminal where Start / Stop and Reverse rotation signals may be wired. The Allen-Bradley 160-BA03NSF1 is an Allen-Bradley Analog Speed Follower Smart Speed Controller (SSC). This Variable Speed Drive uses an external potentiometer or analog input to control the speed of the drive. Compatible potentiometer has a resistance range of 1K to 10K Ohms, with minimum 2 Watts rating. This variable speed controller has a maximum output current of 2.3 A, a maximum power dissipation of 40 Watts, and 0.75 kW and 1 HP as its output ratings. This drive also allows the user to change both its output frequency between 0 and 240 Hertz, and output voltage between 0 Volts to 460 VAC. The operating voltage range of this controller is from 340 to 506 Volts AC and 2.2 input kVA of 2.2. The drive has an operating shock rating of 15 g and maximum vibration of 1 g. If storing the product, maximum shock is 30 g and the maximum vibration is 2.5 g. With an IP20, open enclosure, the 160-BA03NSF1 is installed on a vertical surface that is flat and level using mounting screws with a diameter of 4.5 millimeters or less or by using a 35millimeter DIN rail. Install this controller in an area where environment does not have any corrosive substances. The ambient operating temperature is from 32 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit (or 0 to 50 degrees Celsius) and the storage temperature should fall between -40 and 185 degrees Fahrenheit (or -40 and 85 degrees Celsius).
