The 160-BA03NSF1P1, a microprocessor control variable speed drive, is from Allen Bradley’s family of “Series C” Smart Speed Controller (SSC) designed for three-phase induction AC motors for a wide range of operations. As with all Allen Bradley’s Smart Speed Controllers (SSC), the 160-BA03NSF1P1 comes with some very unique features:  it is microprocessor controlled and has an indicating panel with dual functions.  The panel indicates whether the drive is ready or faulty and functions fully when installed.  It can also be used to set the drive’s factory defaults as well as perform control functions of the drive using the drive’s control terminal block.  The drive also has two LED indicators; one indicates if a fault condition exists, and the other shows when the drive is ready for operator after the DC bus has been fully charged.  Two DC bus test points (a DC- and a DC+) are also located on the front of the panel to allow easy use of test probes to measure DC bus voltage. The hinged finger guard provides convenient access to a line and a load power terminals and a cooling fan maintain its operating temperature to avoid overheating.  The drive has a noiseless operation, PWM, IGBT Technology and feed through wiring.

The 160-BA03NSF1P1 has a three phase input and an IP20 (Open Style) enclosure.  The drive’s input voltage ranges from 380 to 460 Volts AC at 50 to 60 Hertz, 2.2 kVA, and analog signal follower.  Its output current rating of 0.75 kW, 1 HP, 2.3 Amps and a power dissipation is between 37 Watts and 40 Watts. A program keypad module is installed in the 160-BA03NSF1P1 located on the drive’s front panel.  It can operate in a display mode, which is the default on start-up, or in a program mode.  There is a program mode indicator, three keys used in controlling inputs to the drive, a 6-digit and 7-segment LED display, two directional LED indicators and five keys that display drive’s parameters and can be used for its programming.
