The Allen-Bradley 160-BA10NPS1P1 is an AC Smart Speed Controller (SSC) in Allen-Bradley’s 160 series which is equipped with a program keypad module with 8 keys available and with a preset speed control that has a factory default of 8 preset frequencies. Specific keys present on the keypad module are 5 keys for programming the controller and its parameters and 3 input keys for direction and selecting the parameters (the enter key). The SSC’s keypad module also has LED indicators indicating the direction of the motor’s rotation (2 indicators) and the current program mode and it has an LED display with 7 segments that can show 6 digits. Also installed on the 160-BA10NPS1P1 controller are terminal blocks, with 1 each for its dynamic braking and line power (TB1), its motor and capacitor module wiring (TB2), and its control wiring (TB3), and it has a ready and fault indicating panel that has its own red and green LED status indicators.

Operators can use the 160-BA10NPS1P1 controller in an industrial environment with a temperature that ranges from 0-50 degrees Celsius and at a maximum operating altitude (without derating) of 3300 feet or 1000 meters. It can be stored in a location with a -40-85 degrees Celsius temperature range, but make sure that the storage area’s atmosphere is free of corrosive gas or vapors. The enclosure rating of the 160-BA10NPS1P1 controller is an open-type, IP20 enclosure, and this enclosure allows operators to mount it on a flat surface, vertically, via mounting screws that have a diameter of 4.5 millimeters or less or a DIN rail mount that is 35 millimeters. This SSC has a maximum output current of 10.5 A, as well as a 3-phase motor rating of 3.7 kW and 5 HP output. With a 50 to 60 Hertz frequency, the 160-BA10NPS1P1 controller also comes with an input voltage of 380 to 460 Volts AC and an operational range of 340 to 506 Volts AC.
