The 160-BMB1 Dynamic Brake Module is a dynamic breaking module from Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation that is rated for high performance. It has an input voltage rating of 380 to 460 Volts AC at 50 to 60 Hertz frequency with 0.5 to 1 Horsepower of output. It comes with a 5% braking duty cycle, 755 Ohms of dynamic brake resistance, and 2.45 pounds of approximate weight. The operating temperature range of the brake module is 0 to 55 degrees Celsius. It provides high braking torque which allows for faster deceleration. Its duty cycle ensures that the module limits excessive power loss. This braking module is compatible with the Allen-Bradley Bulletin 160 series of AC drives.

The 160-BMB1 Dynamic Brake Module ensures external dynamic braking for applications with not more than 5% of the duty cycle rating. This braking unit includes factory-installed brake resistance. This braking module will be required along with the dynamic brake resistance to provide increased dynamic braking facilities for motor control applications.  It also helps to dissipate the regenerative energy of the motor. Make sure to properly size the resistor package for applications rated at greater than 5% of the duty cycle to avoid overheating. In order to prevent overheating, the minimum clearance for air circulation must be maintained.  This 160-BMB1 Dynamic Braking Module is an economical braking solution that does not use a large amount of energy. It can be used in applications such as pumps, fans, and conveyor belts. The 160-BMB1 Dynamic Brake Module is useful in applications that require sudden deceleration and frequent stops and it allows for shorter deceleration times in applications running heavy loads.
