The 1394C-JST05-L is a component of Digital AC Multi-Axis motion control system manufactured by Allen-Bradley. It belongs to the 1394 product bulletin and functions as a System Module.
This 1394 GMC system module’s electrical input requirements are 3-Phase, 380 - 460 VAC input, frequency of 50/60 Hertz and input current of 6.5 amperes. The output parameters of this module are output voltage of 530/680V DC, continuous power output of 4/5 kilowatts with peak power of 28 kW. The continuous current output is 7.36 A and peak current of 15.0 amperes. The maximum short circuit current of this module is 100,00 amperes.
This system module supports single axis only but provides Two (2) auxiliary inputs. The encoder inputs of this module are Incremental AB quadrature encoder with optically isolated differential channels and marker channel. Furthermore, the compatible Encoder interface IC is AM26LS32 or equivalent. Encoder that may be used for the system is Differential, TTl-level (5V DC) line driver outputs, with or without marker with maximum encoder frequency 4,000,000 counts per second (4 MHz). This is equivalent to a channel frequency of 1 MHz in 4x quadrature decode mode. Required encoder power 5V DC @ 1A, user supplied.
This module has available module series of A, B and C. Series C is an enhanced version. All 1394 GMC system provides all the capabilities of IMC S Class Compact Motion Controller and power conversion. Allen-Bradley has provided Two (2) type of GMC system module such as Standard and Turbo. The 1394C-JST05-L belongs to the standard type of GMC module. The 1394C-JST05-L is a Standard Graphical Motion Control which provides the same functionality as the 1394-JST05-C module. It supports only one axis module and offers two channels of auxiliary encoder input. The 1394C-JST05-L GMC contains an integrated IMC S class motion controller. This GMC system module also offers connections for Motor feedback or resolver, Auxiliary encoders, RS 232 and RS 422 serial communication, Flex i/o, Remote I/O, DH 485, and Axis links. The encoder feedback wiring connector accepts a signal from an encoder (which is optional). One of the terminals (Terminal 10) requires a user-supplied, regulated +5 Volts DC. It is recommended to use Belden #9728 wire or an equivalent. When using a 5-volt power supply, there is a maximum distance of 12.2 meters (40 feet) between the encoder and the module. The 1394C-JST05-L interface circuitry requires 0.325 A to operate. If any other devices are connected to the 1394-JST05-L, like incremental encoders, it may require an additional 0.2 A per device to operate. Make sure to check the device for operational requirements. Encoder feedback connections should be made as per the instructions. It is crucial to ensure that the connectors are located at the bottom of the system module. For the improvement of the bond between the feedback of the motor cable shield and the system module PE ground, a cable shield clamp is included with the Series C system module.
