The 4100-234 Compact Motion Controller by Allen-Bradley is a compact microprocessor-based motion controller with 4 axes and no remote I/O or axis link options. It allows for easy HMI and for connection to external data communication devices and other MMI devices through the RS-232C and RS-485 communication ports. User program applications and parameters are set using the GML system which has over 100 commands for operation specialization of the 4100-234 to suit specific application needs. Programmed applications and settings are transferred to the 4100-234 via the same RS-232C and RS-422 serial ports, and stored in its internal battery-backed cache memory.

The 4100-234 has 2 power supply inputs. The AC input has a 90 to 132 Volts AC voltage range at 47 to 63 Hertz and a maximum current of 3 Amps, while the I/O input supply has a voltage range of 5 to 40 Volts DC with 24 Volts DC nominal and a maximum current of 3 Amps. Connection to the flex I/O modules provides the 4100-234 motion controller with a wide range of discrete I/O inputs and outputs functions. The 4100-234 has 20 dedicated and isolated discrete inputs (5 for each axis) and 8 dedicated discrete outputs (2 for each axis). It has an operational temperature range between –40 and 70 degrees Celsius (–40 and 158 degrees Fahrenheit) and a relative humidity limit of 95% without condensation. It has product dimensions of 355.6 x 279.4 x 165.1 millimeters (14 x 11 x 6.50 inches) and weighs approximately 7.7 kilograms (16.90 pounds).
