The Allen-Bradley 2071-AP8 is a servo drive that is part of the Kinetic 3 series. This servo drive is specifically designed to work efficiently for industrial process control. This drive runs on an input voltage 240V AC. It is also capable of one or three-phase operations. The drive has an input current of 6.25A or 10.82A and an output current of 5A. This drive also features 70 Watts of shunt power for an additional motor-stopping control. The 2071-AP8 drive has been particularly engineered to operate best with 800 Watts of power and a TL-2540P. The drive has a communication port for RS-485 and RS-232 communication and an indexing mode to maximize user control.
The 2071-AP8 servo drive has been maximized to engineer input and control for servo devices. It features motor overload protection. It is also designed for solid-state motors which follow UL requirements. The drive also features multiple human interface options including Modbus, Digital, and Analog interfaces. The drive has 64 points for indexing. The solid-state motor overload protection that this servo drive uses has algorithms that help with the prediction of actual motor temperature while the control power is continuously applied. The prediction depends on the operating conditions. The thermal memory is not retained if the control power is removed.
The 2071-AP8 drive also features an input that is used for an external thermistor device or temperature sensor. This input is embedded in the motor so that it can provide support for the UL requirements for sufficient motor overload protection. The drive also provides support for some motors which contains neither temperature sensors nor thermistors. There is, therefore, no support provided for motor overload protection against damage from excessive subsequent motor overloads. The power-up follow up is also not supported. Before installing this drive, the user needs to remove all packaging materials, braces, and wedges that the components are packed in.
