The Kinetix 3 series of servo drives by Allen-Bradley is specially designed to provide maximum engineering control as well as input for the servo devices. The Kinetix 3 servo drives offer a solution for applications that operate on an output power range of 0.6 to 9.9 Amps RMS or 50 to 1500 Watts. These drives support the RSLogix 500 software which makes it easy to handle the programming, commissioning, and the maintenance of the SLC 500 and MicroLogix controller drives. These drives run on AC input power, and they operate on a voltage range of 220 to 240 Volts. They come with various voltage phases, including 1-phase, dual-phase, and 3-phase. The servo drives feature motor overload protection that is designed for solid-state motors to enable them to meet the UL requirements. Every single drive is preinstalled with multiple human-machine interface (HMI) options, such as digital, analog, and Modbus HMIs, and for indexing, these drives come with 64 I/O points.
The Kinetix 3 servo drives utilize a solid-state motor overload protection, which runs according to the UL 508C requirements. This protection includes the motor overload protection algorithms or the thermal memory which predicts the exact motor temperature based on the operating conditions provided the control power that is applied continuously. Nevertheless, upon the removal of the control power, the thermal memory is not retained. The Allen-Bradley Kinetix 3 servo drives provide input for the exterior thermistor device or temperature sensor, which is embedded in the motor to support the motor overload protection and meet the UL requirements. Additionally, these servo drives support various motors that contain no thermistors or temperature sensors; thus, the motor overload protection against extreme consecutive motor overloads and subsequent power-up is not supported.
