22-COMM-C

The 22-COMM-C is a PowerFlex Component Class ControlNet Adapter. It is classified as a PowerFlex AC drive user-installed spare part and it is manufactured by Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation. The 22-COMM-C is a ControlNet communication adapter that is installed on the PowerFlex 40 or the PowerFlex 400 drives. The 22-COMM-C is also used with the other Allen-Bradley products so long as these support the DSI communication adapter. The external communication kit enables up to 4 PowerFlex drives to connect to the ControlNet network. The DSI connector on the 22-COMM-C is a 20-pin single-row shrouded male header with an internal interface cable that is connected to the connector. It also features a channel A Coax receptacle for BNC cable used for the ControlNet cable. The module also features a jumper that functions as a selector between the Single or Multiple Drive Modes. It comes with various configuration tools that are used to configure the adapter and the connected drive. The 22-COMM-C supports the I/O, including the Logic Command Reference for all the drives that are connected in the single or in the multiple drive modes. The 22-COMM-C features user-defined actions that determine how the adapter and the drive respond to the communication disruptions on the network and the controllers in the program mode. The 22-COMM-C is compatible with the PowerFlex 4 drives that have the DSI external communication kit, with the PowerFlex 40 drives, and also with the PowerFlex 400 drives.

The Allen-Bradley 22-COMM-C is a PowerFlex Adjustable Frequency AC drive component module. This module is a ControlNet communication adapter which can be installed to PowerFlex to PowerFlex 4 drive with DS1 External Cooms kit; PowerFlex 40 and PowerFlex 400 drives. The 22-COMM-C is packaged with a ControlNet adapter and a 15.24-centimeter (6-inch) Internal Interface Cable.

The 22-COMM-C comes with one (1) ControlNet port for network connection and one (1) Drive Serial Interface (DSI) port for internal communication with the host drive. The ControlNet port supports up to 5 Mbps of transfer speed and communication between multiple devices residing on the same network. The DS1 protocol is used by the adapter to communicate with the host drive to access drive parameters for Read and Write functions.

The 22-COMM-C has a current draw of 275 milliamperes @ 5 Volts DC which is supplied by the host drive’s integrated circuitry. This may also be provided by the DSI external comms kit. It measures 19 millimeters (0.75 inches) for height; 86 millimeters (3.39 inches) for length and 78.5 millimeters (3.09 inches) for width. It weighs 85 grams (3 ounces). This module is recommended to be operated at a temperature range of -10…50 °C (14…122 °F) and storage temperature of -40…85 °C (-40…185 °F) with a relative humidity of 5-95%, non-condensing. Operation in environments with volatile or corrosive gasses, vapors and dust is prohibited for this module.
