Allen Bradley PowerFlex 400

The PowerFlex 400 series is a family of AC drives from Allen-Bradley which is specifically designed for speed control in variable torque and mechanical fan and pump applications. The PowerFlex 400 series supports 2 voltage classes. At 240 Volts AC, the PowerFlex 400 drives support 3 to 50 Horsepower and at 480 Volts AC, the PowerFlex 400 drives support 3 to 350 Horsepower ratings. The 3-phase input provides full drive ratings and the single-phase input provides 35% of the rated current. The PowerFlex 400 drives are available in 2 types of packaging which are the IP 20 (NEMA) enclosure for mounting outside or inside a control cabinet with a 45 degrees Celsius maximum ambient temperature, and the flange type of enclosure which allows for mounting a heatsink through the back of an enclosure onto 20 Horsepower (at 380 to 480 Volts AC) and 10 Horsepower (at 200 to 240 Volts AC) rated Frame C drives.

The PowerFlex 400 drives are programmed through the integrated HMI which features a 16-character LCD and a keypad. The PowerFlex 400 drives can also be managed through software such as the DriveExplorer and the DriveTools SP software. The PowerFlex 400 drives come with an integrated RS-485 communication interface and they also support the Profibus DP, Ethernet, LonWorks, and the BACnet networks through options kits. Embedded support for the Metasys N2, Modbus RTU, and P1-FLN protocols is also available. The control algorithms available on PowerFlex 400 drives are Volts per Hertz control and sinusoidal PWM control. Multiple stop modes are supported, including the ramp, coast, S-curve, and DC-brake stop modes. Class 10 motor overload protection is available on PowerFlex 400 drives. Motor over-temperature protection is also supported. The working temperature range is from -10 to 50 degrees Celsius for IP 20 rated enclosures and it is from -10 to 45 degrees Celsius for IP 30 rated enclosures.
