The 22F-A2P5N103 is a PowerFlex adjustable frequency drive from the PowerFlex 4M product family. The PowerFlex 4M drives are compact drives designed for use in applications with low driving power requirements. Specifically, the 22F-A2P5N103 features output characteristics of 0-230 VAC, 3-Phase, output current, and power of 2.5 Amperes and 0.5 HP or 0.4 kW with a programmable output frequency of 0-400 Hz. To operate the drive, a 200-240 VAC, 1-Phase incoming voltage is required to be connected to the input terminals of the drive. The 22F-A2P5N103 comes with an operating efficiency of 97.5% and is provided with embedded Five (5) 24 VDC discrete inputs configurable as Sink / Source inputs; One (1) Form C Relay output channels; One (1) 0-10 VDC and One (1) 4-20 mA analog input channels. These embedded I/O channels enable the drive to be operated by hardwiring electrical input devise such as Pushbuttons and provide status display by connecting with pilot lamps or LED indicators. The integral communication interface available to this drive is an RS485 interface that can be configured as Modbus RTU or Drive Serial Interface (DSI) protocol. Modbus RTU allows multiple drives or other Modbus-capable devices to be connected in daisy-chain configuration while DSI permits the point-to-point connection of accessory modules. The drive’s overvoltage rating is 405V DC bus voltage which is equivalent to 290V AC incoming line voltage while the Undervoltage setpoint is 210V DC bus voltage which is equivalent to 150V of the AC incoming line voltage. Other embedded features available to this drive are the standard Keypad interface functioning as Human Interface Module (HIM) and an internal IGBT Brake.

The PowerFlex 4M AC adjustable frequency drive, the 22F-A2P5N103, is part of the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex series of drives (designed by industry-leader Rockwell Automation) to provide end-users with powerful performance drives that are coupled with flexible control, geared for motor control applications. As with all PowerFlex drives, it offers operator interface, networks, ease of programming and overall use, and feed-through wiring, and additionally provides application flexibility designed to meet the demands of OEMs, solution providers, and global end-users. As the smallest drive in the PowerFlex Component Class family of drives, it is also the most cost-effective, with a compact and space-saving design. To save needed space, Zero-Stacking can be applied in ambient temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius. Ambient temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius are permitted, as long as the minimum spacing is maintained between the drives. With its integral filtering, which is available on all 240 Volt single phase drives, the 22F-A2P5N103 can meet EN61800-3 standards in a cost-efficient manner. The 22F-A2P5N103 is a single-phase drive with a power rating of 0.4 kW (0.5 HP), a voltage of 240 Volts AC (50 to 60 Hertz), and an output of 2.5 Amps. The drive’s feed-through wiring design delivers variable speed control with retrofitting time and minimal installation and it has a frame size A design, open IP20 enclosure, no brake, no CE compliant filter, an LED display, and a fixed digital keypad. This digital integral keypad allows the drive to be operational, once installed, using local control and potentiometer keys. Like all PowerFlex drives, its programmable keys have the same functions across all the other drives, so learning to program one drive means the user can program all of them. To facilitate easy and fast programming, 12 of the most common application parameters are installed in the Basic Program Group. The 22F-A2P5N103 is equipped with a 4-digit display and an additional 10 LED indicators which provides drive status and information in an intuitive display. To further control flexibility and aid additional programming, the drive comes with a NEMA/UL Type 4X remote and a NEMA/UL Type 1 hand-held LCD keypad, both of which feature the well-known CopyCat function. Programming from a PC is made possible via integral RS-485/DSI communications which can also be used in a multi-drop network configuration. To improve machine performance, optional integral communication cards (such as ControlNet&trade, DeviceNetBACnet, PROFIBUS DP, EtherNet/IP, LonWorks) may be used, but only with an external communications kit. The 22F-A2P5N103 can be installed by virtual snap using the DIN rail mounting feature that is common with A-frame drives. For added versatility, panel mounting has also been provided as an alternative installation option. Factors to consider for the control wiring during installation include that the I/O terminals are programmable for 2- or 3-wire operations with terminals 1, 2, and 3 dedicated for Stop, Start and Reverse operation respectively. For added flexibility, I/O terminals 4 and 5 are programmable for a jog, auxiliary fault, local control, preset frequencies, RS485 control, clear fault, and second accel/decal. The 0 to 10 Volt and 4 to 20 mA inputs are electrically isolated for the drive; either can be used in controlling the drive’s speed. A DIP switch setting can set the control logic at 24 Volts DC for either Sink or Source control. Only a conventional blade screwdriver should be used for the control terminal screws.
