The 20-COMM-S is a PowerFlex Architecture Class RS-485 DFI to DPI communication adapter. It is manufactured by Rockwell Automation and it is categorized as a PowerFlex AC drive user-installed spare part. The module is an embedded communication option used on any drive classified under the PowerFlex 7 drive series. The PowerFlex Architecture Class RS-485 DFI to DPI communication adapter is also usable on other Rockwell Automation products that implement the DPI, featuring a functional enhancement to the SCAN port. The PowerFlex Architecture Class RS-485 DFI to DPI communication adapter comes with a Rata Rate Switch that is used for setting the 20-COMM-S data rate or the rate at which the adapter is communicating. The 20-COMM-S also features a Node address switch that allows for setting the node address. It comes with an RS-485 DFI Connector which is a 6-pin connector to which the 6-pin linear plug is connected.

The module also features the DPI connector which is a 20-pin single-row shrouded male header. This also comes with an internal interface cable that connects to the adapter with a connector linking to the drive. Like the other spare parts for the PowerFlex drives, the 20-COMM-S features status indication lights. These are very resourceful for troubleshooting and it helps in indicating the status of the connected drive. The 20-COMM-S is usually connected to the Powerflex drives and receives power from these drives. The switches on the module allow for setting the node address and also the network data rate before applying power to the PowerFlex drive.
