The Allen-Bradley 20AD014A0NYNAENN is a Variable Frequency AC Drive; this device is an Ethernet-based module from the PowerFlex 70 family intended to control three-phase induction motors. This item is used extensively in applications that require firm and accurate control of torque, speed, and position. It is a microprocessor controlled device that implements a technology known as Vector Control. The 3-phase induction motor gets 0 to 480 Volts AC voltage from the 20AD014A0NYNAENN drive. The drive controls a set of phase currents that thus arranged set the stator space vector current which is determined with two components. The first one is the magnetizing current which the microprocessor wants to keep constant to sustain constant rotor flux linkage and the second one is the torque current that must be kept proportional to the required torque. By following these two requirements all the time, with microsecond reaction, the drive is capable of responding without any time delay to any changes in torque.

The Allen-Bradley 20AD014A0NYNAENN is 7.5 kW rated and has a motor control solution with a high-performance capability. When connected to a 14 Amp rated three-phase motor, this module improves the motor’s dynamic response and makes it equivalent to that of a DC motor. It is always better to use three-phase motors because they are cost-effective, more robust, more reliable, and require much less maintenance. The 6000 Volts transient protection is also included. These features will increase the motor life and reduce downtimes of industrial automation systems.
