The Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley 20AD040A3NYNACCN is a variable frequency controller with a full numeric keypad. The controller is designed for use with 3-phase power motors because these motors only support an on/off operation. The 20AD040A3NYNACCN can be used in industrial applications such as flow, pressure, speed, tension monitoring, and control. The drive supports enhanced control. This type of control allows for a safe-off operation which adds a safety circuit to the 20AD040A3NYNACCN power switching signals. This prevents rotational energy from being delivered to the motor. Other features enabled by the enhanced control feature are the droop control used in load sharing applications and the sleep/wake control used to manage the starting and stopping of the drive by using analog means.

The 20AD040A3NYNACCN, like other Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 70 drives, employs the use of Vector control with FORCE technology which enables the drive to provide accurate speed and torque control without specifically relying on a feedback encoder. The drive uses a Type D frame and it has an apparent power rating of 22 Kilowatts. For communication, the 20AD040A3NYNACCN has an inbuilt ControlNet network port. The drive is not supplied with an installation manual. The Allen-Bradley 20AD040A3NYNACCN is interfaced with other devices on the network by using a terminal block located on the lower side of the drive.
