The Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley 20AD065A0AYNADN0 is motor controller with a user-adjustable frequency. The controller has a preinstalled DeviceNet communication port. DeviceNet is a leading network protocol employed on the industrial floor for the interconnection of devices to enhance data exchange. The network makes use of the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) on top of the Controller Area Network (CAN), making it robust and low-cost compared to using an RS-485 protocol. The 20AD065A0AYNADN0 can drive a motor with a Horsepower rating of 50 Horsepower. The 20AD065A0AYNADN0, as with other Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 70 adjustable frequency drives, has ground-referenced protective common mode capacitors which should not be connected if the 20AD065A0AYNADN0 is to be installed in an ungrounded system.
PowerFlex drives, including the 20AD065A0AYNADN0, have a shielded terminal which is used for grounding. Note that the motor cable shield must be connected to the SHLD terminal on the 20AD065A0AYNADN0 and connected to the motor frame. However, a shielded cable should only be grounded at the source end when it is used for control and signal wiring. One advantage of using shielded cables when installing the 20AD065A0AYNADN0 is that it helps extend the distance between the motor and the controller. Additionally, it lowers the interference of the noise generated by the drive. The Allen-Bradley 20AD065A0AYNADN0 has a dynamic brake circuit that utilizes an insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) and an internal brake resistor. The 20AD065A0AYNADN0 is not shipped with a human-machine interface module. The controller is housed in a NEMA Type 1 enclosure and it is panel-mountable.
