The 1 Horsepower rated 20AD2P1A2AYNNCC1 belongs to the Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 70 series of variable frequency AC drives. The drive input is rated for 480 Volts AC and the drive output is rated for 2.1 Amps with 3-phase input. The output derates when then the input is 1-phase and the maximum output current comes down to 1.1 Amps. The IP20-rated frame A type enclosure of the 20AD2P1A2AYNNCC1 is designed for panel mounting. ControlNet communication interface, enhanced control with a 5V/12V encoder and brake IGBT are available on the drive. However, a brake resistor is not available. Five steps are involved in the start-up of PowerFlex 70 drives such as the 20AD2P1A2AYNNCC1.

The integrated HMI on the 20AD2P1A2AYNNCC1 is used to perform these 5 steps. The first step involves reading the instructions and general information. The most important precautions include the need for qualified personnel to perform the installation, discharging bus capacitors to prevent personal injury, and following the ESD precautions to prevent damage to the sensitive drive components. The second step involves ensuring the minimum mounting clearances are observed to ensure that the drive temperature remains within the recommended range. For PowerFlex 70 drives, 3 inches of vertical separation is recommended to keep the air temperature surrounding the drive between 0 and 50 degrees Celsius. The third step involves ensuring that the wires used for the terminations are as per the manufacturer recommendations. The fourth step involves wiring the drive I/Os. Only copper wires and insulation with a rating of 600 Volts or greater should be used. The fifth and final step involves going through the start-up checklist and executing the required commands.
