The Rockwell Automation 20AD8P0A0AYYANC0 is a PowerFlex 70 variable frequency drive. The drive supports enhanced control for its Input Output but without safe-off capabilities. If the safe-off feature is required, an external safe-off board can be interfaced with the drive. The enhanced control supports vector control which further enhances the control of the motor speed and torque. With vector control, the torque limits are divided depending on whether the motor is rotating backwards or forwards and it also takes into consideration whether the motor is regenerating or motoring. With this kind of control, the 20AD8P0A0AYYANC0 contains current on its analog output ports. The drive does not contain a feedback encoder. However, when an external encoder is used, the encoder must be a line driver type, single channel (pulse), dual channel (quadrature), differential or single ended.
Additionally, the encoder should be capable of supplying a current of not less than 10 Milli Amperes per channel. Note that the encoder has a maximum input frequency rating of 250 Kilo Hertz and a maximum low state voltage of 1 Volt DC. The encoder interface board has a voltage rating of 5 Volts or 12 Volts DC square wave. The 20AD8P0A0AYYANC0 does not have an inbuilt communication port. This allows all communications to be done through the terminal block. The Allen-Bradley 20AD8P0A0AYYANC0 uses parameters which are adjustable to enable the drive to control a motor that is given specific application requirements. The parameters can either be ENUM, bit, or numeric. Bit parameters designate conditions in the form of either zeros or ones to indicate whether a condition is true or false.
