The PowerFlex 700 series from Allen-Bradley is a series of adjustable-frequency AC drives designed for the control of 3-phase induction motors in oil well, speed, lifting, and positioning applications. PowerFlex 700 drives provide an economical solution for variable-torque pump and fan applications requiring speed control. The vector control algorithm supported by PowerFlex 700 drives includes Allen-Bradley Force Technology for advanced motor control. Additionally, these drives also support Volts per Hertz and sensorless vector control. PowerFlex 700 drives come in multiple enclosures, including IP 54 wall-mounted, IP 54 flange-mounted, IP 20 NEMA, and zero stacking enclosures. Integrated features such as an internal brake resistor, EMC filtering, and a communication interface enable considerable space conservation.
PC-based software and LCD HMIs can be used for the programming and management of PowerFlex 700 drives. Optional communications adapters for the USB, Ethernet, ControlNet, and DeviceNet networks are available from Allen-Bradley. The input voltage classes for PowerFlex 700 drives and their corresponding power ratings are 0.37 to 66 kilowatts at 200 to 240 Volts, 0.37 to 132 kilowatts at 380 to 480 Volts AC, 1 to 150 Horsepower at 500 to 600 Volts AC, and 45 to 132 kilowatts at 690 Volts AC. A cassette is available for the PowerFlex 700 drives which house all the I/O, control, and encoder options and that can be interchanged with all the PowerFlex 700 drives. The maximum surrounding air temperature (without derating) for open IP 20 rated drives is from 0 to 50 degrees Celsius. The storage temperature for all the enclosure types is from -40 to 70 degrees Celsius.
