The Allen-Bradley 1398-DDM-005X-DN Digital Servo Drive belongs to the Ultra 100 Digital Servo Drive Series. With a DeviceNet interface card, the drive can connect to a DeviceNet network. The default baud rate of the DeviceNet is 125kps for addressing the number of drives not exceeding 32 with a power consumption of 60 milliamperes. The drive weighs 1.68kg (3.7lbs). The 1398-DDM-005X-DN’s RS-485 and RS-232 are ports of serial communication through which the drive is addressed at a baud rate ranging from 1200-19,200 baud. The Ultra Master Software allows the user to establish multiple drives using the drive’s host command protocol.

You can shift from RS-232 to RS-485 communication and vice versa by simply changing the cable. A configuration of the pin-out self-senses either the RS-485 or the RS-232 protocol of communication. The software assigns a unique address when installing multiple drives. A selection of the Ultra Master Software changes ALL addresses. Address 0 is the address of a factory default drive. This software can support not more than 32 drives.
