The 1398-DDM-075X is an Ultra 200 Servo drive that features a microprocessor-based control capability. This 1398-DDM-075X is especially designed to act as a positioning drive.

Being a product under the Ultra 200, this positioning servo drive features a standard embedded I/O signal of Four (4) dedicated, non-programmable I/O and Eight (8) optically isolated Discrete Input and Output. This drive also has Two (2) analog inputs and Two (2) analog outputs which may be configured by external limit and variable monitoring or torque sharing, respectively. These I/Os must be physically connected to appropriate signaling components whether manually or automatically triggered, from a conventional control panel or a Programable Logic Controller (PLC).

The configurable discrete inputs for this 1398-DDM-075X positioning drive are Analog override, Drive mode select, Follower enable, Integrator inhibit, Mode override, Remove command offset, Start index, Define home, Fault reset, Forward enable, Preset select, Preset select, Reverse enable and Start homing. The configurable Discrete outputs on the hand includes At speed, Bus changed, Disabling fault, In dwell, In position, Sequence complete, Within speed window, various fault indications, Axis homed, Current limit, Drive enabled, In motion, Registered, Within position window and Zero speed. The discrete outputs are typically connected to an indicating device or to an input channel of a Programmable Logic Controller.

Alternatively, the integrated RS485 communication may be used to connect up to 32 drives.

The Allen-Bradley 1398-DDM-075X ULTRA 200 digital servo drive is a member of the ULTRA 200 servo drive series which lets users manage velocity, current, and position through its utilization of microcontroller system. Users can interface and control the machine mode through the inputs and outputs and the RS-232 communication port. The digital interface of the 1398-DDM-075X uses the J1 connector to connect with a controller or a host PC. The digital input has 5 selectable circuit inputs (INPUT 1, INPUT 2, INPUT 3, INPUT 4, and Fault Reset) and one ENABLE input, connected via a J3-21 internal connector which enables and disables the drive. It also has 2 discrete digital output circuits which are a dedicated relay output (Brake and Drive Ready, which support 24 Volts DC logic interface), and a selectable transistor-based output (Output 1 through Output 4 with a single-ended channel at 5.0 mA). Users can also interface through the analog input and output interface. The analog input consists of current limiting inputs which support a 0 to 10 Volts signal and command input which supports a 0 to 10 Volts signal. The analog output interfaces of the 1398-DDM-075X are Analog Output 1 (with a J1-30 internal connector) and Analog Output 2 (with a J1-31 internal connector). The 1398-DDM-075X has a control encoder (with adjustable power output rating between 5 and 7 Volts DC, with an automatic sensing fuse) which grant users computation, information, and velocity feedback. The 1398-DDM-075X has an auxiliary input voltage rating of 100 to 240 Volts AC and a current of 1.0 Amps at 100 Volts (47 to 63 Hertz) and 0.5 at 240 Volts (47 to 63 Hertz). The 1398-DDM-075X also has a main input voltage rating between 100 and 240 Volts AC and a current of 30 Amps at 47 to 63 Hertz. It has an output continuous current of 35 Amps that can peak at 75 Amps and a BUS voltage rating of 141 to 339 Volts DC, with 152 joules BUS capacitance energy absorption. There is also a shunt module with a peak power rating of 10 kW and a motor protection of about 200% protection overload for 8 minutes and 600% overload protection for 20 seconds. It dissipates 300W power in a NEMA 12 enclosure which provides sufficient ventilation. The 1398-DDM-075X has a RAM of 34 KB, a flash memory of 128 KB, and a 512-KB user memory with 20 years of data retention range. It is built to maintain optimum function at an altitude of 1500 meters (5000 feet) without de-rating and will de-rate at 3% for every additional 300 meters. It is designed with a net weight of 9.67 kilograms (21.32 pounds), and dimensions of 14.2x 5.97x 8.84 inches (360.6x 151.7x 224.5 millimeters).
