The Allen-Bradley 1398-HMI-001 TouchPad is a part of the 1398 ULTRA Series. This part is an interface TouchPad programmer that fits the J5 position on ULTRA 100 Drives like the 1398-DDM-005, -005X). This TouchPad has dimensions of 5.08 cm x 5.72 cm x 2.77 cm. Behind this TouchPad there is a 9-pin male D-Sub connector. The 1398-HMI-001 TouchPad consists of 3 parts: the small touchpad module, the 8-character dot matrix display, and the 5 keys on the display. The small touchpad module is connected directly to the front of a drive. The Allen-Bradley 1398-HMI-001 TouchPad has a feature that is a diagnostic tool and it also has an easy-to-use monitoring tool on the factory floor. One TouchPad can load multiple drives because the TouchPad is not drive exclusive. The 1398-HMI-001 can be attached quickly and easily. The TouchPad can be removed once the power is turned off. On this TouchPad, the user can enter commands by pressing a button or combination of buttons. There are 2 modes of operation: the display mode and the modify mode. In the display mode, the user can monitor operations and move through a TouchPad command tree to any existing parameters. In the modify mode, the user can monitor the operation at hand and change each parameter as desired. Another feature of the 1398-HMI-001 TouchPad is the ability to change the parameter and see most of the parameters while the drive is running or while the drive is not activated.
The Allen-Bradley 1398-HMI-001 is an Ultra Series compatible Touchpad. This touchpad attached to host drive, allowing local configuration, monitoring, and operation. Additionally, this touchpad may also be configured to aid in diagnostics and troubleshooting.
The 1398-HMI-001 attaches to the host drive via the 9-pin sub-D connector available at the back of the touchpad. For monitoring and visualization, it is provided with an 8-character dot matrix display. For input interface, it is provided with an assembly of navigation keys, specifically 5 buttons for Up, Down, Left, Right, and confirmation actions. The touchpad’s intended connection is through the J5 position.
The 1398-HMI-001 is powered by the host drive. It supports two (2) modes of operation - particularly, display mode and modify mode. With modify mode, parameter change and monitoring is allowed. With display mode, command tree navigation is permitted. Most parameters can be viewed and monitored even if the drive is running or disabled. Additionally, a single touchpad can be used with multiple compatible Ultra drives as the 1398-HMI-001 is not rive exclusive. It does not support Removal and Insertion Under Power (RIUP) - thus, it can only be removed and installed whenever power is cut from the drive.
