The Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley 9101-1457 is an ULTRA 100 series drive under the 1398-DDM-010 universal drive series. The universal drives in this model series have a power rating of 1000 watts and an input power ranging from 100 to 240 Volts AC at a frequency of either 50 or 60 Hertz. The 9101-1457, as with other drives in the 1398-DDM-010 series, makes use of AC line filters. The drive utilizes either a Roxburgh Motor Drive Filter (MDF16), a Motor Inverter Filter (MIF 10), or a Schaffner FN 350-12 filter. Note that the MDF filters the AC line in one stage while the MIF filters the AC line in a series of 3 stages hence a clean AC line but occupies a larger space than the motor drive filter.
Although the Schaffer FN-350-12 also filters the AC line in one step, it differs from its Roxburgh counterpart in terms of values, components, and placement. It also has a decreased amount of attenuation and leakage current. With the 9101-1457, filters that clean the AC line in a single step are only preferred where the operating environment has considerably low levels of noise. As with other drives in the ULTRA 100 series, the 9101-1457 uses factory-supplied cables and it follows the guidelines specified by the European Union for installations. Additionally, the drives in this series have selectable digital inputs and outputs that are protected against short circuits, that are optically isolated, and that have a maximum current of 50 mA. The memory storage for the 9101-1457 can hold data for a maximum of 20 years. Communication with the 9101-1457 is done through the RS-232 or RS-485 (4-wire) serial ports.
