The Rockwell Automation 9101-1553 Allen Bradley Servo drive is a 15 Amp, 1 Phase, 120 to 240 Volt AC 50 to 60 Hertz drive, designed to use microcomputers to digitally manage the position, current, and velocity. All its electronics are enclosed in a single unit and it has no need for an external transformer. The front panel contains all its indicators and connectors which are distinctively marked and fully accessible. The 9101-1553 requires an external power source of 12 to 24 Volts DC for its I/O. When combined with brushless servo motors, it provides peak torque in the range 0.48 N-m to 7.12 N-m and continuous torque in the range 0.17 N-m to 2.5 N-m. The overtemperature protection, short circuit and current loop, including overcurrent, are controlled via the Intelligent Power Module (IPM) Technology, in the output stage, which provides high frequency, digital Pulse Width Modulation (PWM).
The 9101-1553 Allen Bradley Servo drive comes with a number of analog and digital interfaces, up to eight binary input presets, and a ±10 volt analog interface for torque and velocity control. Additionally, it contains a CW/CCW (step up/step down) and a step/direction digital interface for position control and a quadrature encoder digital interface for electronic gearing positioning, operating mode override interface (for alternative movement) and indexing interface (for position control in three available ways from a single position). Users can program the 9101-1553 via digital I/O channels to fit a variety of applications. Some of the available options include four selectable, optically isolated, active high inputs, a dedicated control, optically isolated, active high input, two selectable optically isolated and short circuit protected active high outputs, and two dedicated normally open relay outputs. Both the circuit and the device are protected, and diagnostic information is provided via fault diagnostics of a short circuit, over temperature and overcurrent protection for the power output, over speed, bi-color single point LED, bus overvoltage, watchdog timers, bus undervoltage, and power-time (I²T) protection for the power drive and the motor.
