The Allen-Bradley 150-A97NBDA is a Smart Motor Controller (SMC) that is part of the SMC Plus series. This controller is essentially a soft-starter which is used to implement protective start-up and shutdown of an industrial motor. It comes with built-in Soft-start, Kick-start and current limit features as well as full-voltage start and energy-saver feature. Additionally, this soft-starter is added with an optional soft-stop capability. For Soft-start feature, selectable start times include 2, 5, 10, 20, 25 and 30 seconds while for Kick-start, configurable start-times are 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0 seconds. As it comes with soft-stop feature, the configurable times include 2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, and 60 seconds. The 150-A97NBDA has rated operating voltage 208-480 VAC, 50/50 Hz. It has output ratings of 22 kW @ 200 VAC; 45 kW @ 400 VAC and 55 kW @ 500 VAC and Hp ratings of 30 Hp @ 200 VAC; 30 Hp @ 230 VAC; 75 Hp @ 460 VAC. It also delivers an output current of 97 Amperes with maximum heat dissipation of 285 Watts. When terminating signal wires to the 150-A97NBDA, recommended wires are 16…120 mm2 or #6…#4/0 American Wire Gauge (AWG) for Power Terminals and 1.5…4.0 mm2 (#18…#12 AWG) all sizes for control terminals. For configuration, the 150-A97NBDA may be set-up using the integrated DIP switches and rotary switches. Aside from the embedded Three (3) operating modes, the 150-A97NBDA comes with pre-start and run protection from phase loss and shorted SCRs.
