The Allen-Bradley 150-C135NBD is a SMC-3 Flex Smart Motor Controller. This smart motor controller is a compact, small-form factor device that is equipped with advanced functionalities for implementing a variety of operating modes such as Soft Start, Current Limit Start, Selectable Kickstart, Dual Ramp Star, Full Voltage Start, Preset Slow Speed, Linear Speed Acceleration, Coast-to-rest, Smart motor braking among others.

The 150-C135NBD may be is a 3-Phase device, supplied with line voltage range of 200-480VAC with control voltage of 100-240VAC. When operating as line controller, the maximum continuous output current is 135 Amperes and delivers output power of 40 HP when operated at 200VAC; 50 HP at 230VAC and 100 HP at 460 VAC. When operating as Delta controller, the maximum continuous output of the 150-C135NBD are 75 HP at 200VAC; 75 HP at 230VAC and 150 HP at 460VAC.

The 150-C135NBD has an open-style enclosure therefore, this device is required to be mounted inside an enclosure that provided adequate protection against environmental and mechanical factors that may affect the operation and lifespan of the smart motor controller. Appropriate enclosure rating is IP65 (Type 4/12) for non-combination installation, the minimum enclosure size of 762 mm x 610 mm x 305 mm (HxWxD). For combination controller with fusible disconnect, minimum enclosure size is 965 mm x762 mm x 356 mm (HxWxD). For Combination controllers with circuit breaker, minimum enclosure size is 965 mm x 762 mm x 356 mm (HxWxD). Additionally, mounting clearance must be included in the installation of this controller. Recommended clearance top and bottom clearance is as 15 cm.

Before and during a start, the 150-C135NBD controller will conduct a self-test to see if there are any shorted SCRs. If so, the start will be aborted and the LED indicator will signal a fault to prevent possible damage from phase imbalance. The phase imbalance is also monitored by the controller and when this imbalance exceeds the specified limits, it will indicate a fault and the unit will trip. To prevent motor burnout, the 150-C135NBD controller will not start up when it detects only a single-phase. The Allen Bradley 150-C135NBD SMC-3 is a 3-Wire Smart Motor Controller with Open Enclosure.
