The Allen-Bradley 150-B180JBD Smart Motor Starter is a microprocessor-based motor controller in the Bulletin 150 SMC Dialog Plus family of digital motor starters. It provides microprocessor based starting for 3-phase induction motors in critical applications. This motor starter features 4 standard starting modes (the full voltage start, soft start with a selectable kick-start, dual ramp, and the current limit start) within a single unit, and it comes with a NEMA Type 12 rated non-ventilated enclosure that is suitable for extreme industrial conditions. The 150-B180JBD has an operating voltage range of 200 to 460 Volts AC (3-phase), with 180 Amps continuous current rating, and it is built for applications with an output power range of 5 Horsepower to 150 Horsepower. This controller consists of a logic module, which provides complete digital microprocessor control, and a power module (with the heatsink installed). It has a self-tuning power supply with the ability to accept 100 to 240 Volts AC control power, with SCR firing circuitry protected by an RC network, and it offers an adjustable 0 to 30-second ramp time. The control module also provides torque settings that are adjustable from 0 to 90% of the rotor torque, with a starting current limit that is adjustable from 50 to 600% of the motor’s full current load, and it also gives users the ability to adjust the current pulse to up to 55% of the full load.

The 150-B180JBD power module has a 200 to 460 Volts AC class circuit, with a 2200 Volts UL rated dielectric withstand, and it is capable of providing protection against high DV/DT faults. Like all SMC dialog plus motor starters, it is designed to provide protection against line faults, phase reversal, voltage unbalance, under-voltage, overvoltage, over temperature, overload, and under-load situations. For simple field configuration, it is designed with fixed programming keypads, with a plain text LCD and a serial communication port which provides an interface to connect optional human-machine interface modules and communication modules. The 150-B180JBD also has 3 fully programmable auxiliary output contacts (NO/NC), programmed for normal or up-to-speed use. It is designed to operate within a 0 to 40 degrees Celsius temperature range, and it has a storage temperature range of –20 to 75 degrees Celsius.
