The SMC Dialog Plus series is a series of Allen-Bradley solid-state controllers that are built to provide a full range of starting modes. The SMC Dialog Plus series features the soft start with a selectable Kickstart, the current limit start, the dual ramp start, and the full voltage start modes. The Allen-Bradley SMC Dialog Plus series also features the soft stop, pump control, preset slow speed, Accu-stop, Accu-stop with slow speed at the start, slow speed with braking, and smart motor braking stop modes. The SMC Dialog Plus controllers are designed with electronic motor overload protection as a standard feature. The overload protection enables the SMC Dialog Plus series to meet the applicable operational requirements. The SMC Dialog Plus series also comes with overvoltage protection. Therefore, when the SMC Dialog Plus controllers sense a rise in the incoming line voltage, the built-in overvoltage protection automatically halts motor operation.
Another feature included with the SMC Dialog Plus series is the voltage unbalance protection feature which is detected through the monitoring of the 3-phase supply voltage magnitudes together with the rotational relationships of the 3 phases. The SMC Dialog Plus controllers feature the stall protection and jam detection capabilities. The applications experience locked rotor currents and they have the ability to develop a high torque level in the case of a stall or jam. These conditions result in winding insulation breakdowns or even mechanical damage to the connected loads. The units are programmed to allow the users to have the ability to schedule the allowed number of starts per hour. This is possible through the supported Excess starts per hour feature.
